Installing Cisco AnyConnect VPN for Linux

1. Create ciscovpn directory
   [root@linuxhost]# mkdir ciscovpn
2. Download the tar file to ciscovpn directory
   
3. Unpack the archive with a tar command
   [root@linuxhost:~ciscovpn]# tar xvzf AnyConnect-Linux-Release-3.xxx.tar.gz
4. Install additional Library for the Cisco client to work*
   [sudo apt install libpangox-1.0-0]
5. As root user, run the script named vpn_install.sh
   [root@linuxhost:~ciscovpn]# ./vpn_install.sh

The client installs the directory/opt/cisco/vpn. This script besides installs the daemonvpnagentd and sets it up as a service that is automatically started when the system boots.

*On all major current distributions (including Ubuntu) you lot now have to install an additional library for the Cisco client to work Ubuntu 17.ten and CiscoAnyconnect

Running Cisco AnyConnect VPN for Linux

After installing the client, you can first the client manually from the user interface with the Linux control /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpnui (for webui interface) or with /opt/cisco/anyconnect/bin/vpn (for command line interface).

When you run /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpnui or /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn frm the root:

• [root@linuxhost]# /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpnui

OR

• [root@linuxhost]# /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn

1. For webui, the anyconnect client web interface volition come up and you tin type in the connect to: box, 'vpn1.auckland.ac.nz' ('vpn2.auckland.ac.nz' is the alternative connection) and press connect.

For cli, it will bring this 'VPN' prompt. Type 'connect vpn1.auckland.air-conditioning.nz' and press enter.
